Redruth Charity Trust trustees Chris Hailey and Anna Oliver were delighted to visit South Crofty for a behind-the-scenes tour of the mine site. The tour was led by Mark Kaczmarek, Community Liaison Manager at Cornish Metals.
Cornish Metals stands as the Trust’s largest sponsor to date, offering a Triple Silver Sponsorship of £500 each to our Youth Sports, Community, and Fred Harris Education Awards – totalling £1,500 per year. This annual commitment marks a major milestone in our mission to empower the local community.
During the tour, Mark shared insight into the company’s commitment to local impact:
“South Crofty is very much part of the community,” said Mark Kaczmarek. “Like Redruth Charity Trust, our local area means a great deal to us, and we want to make a difference to people who need it. This special partnership, now in its third year, allows us to support a wide range of community groups and initiatives.”
Currently, over 80 local staff are employed at South Crofty – mostly residents of the area – which underscores Cornish Metals’ enduring commitment to the very people who call Cornwall home.
Echoing this sentiment, Chair of Trustees Chris Hailey added:
“It’s inspiring to see such a historic site reborn with innovation and purpose. Cornish Metals’ support across our three award schemes isn’t just sponsorship, it’s a genuine investment in improving the quality of life for residents in our district. We’re incredibly grateful for their ongoing partnership.”
As South Crofty continues its renaissance, collaborations like this one show the strength of working together for the good of our local community — and we look forward with hope that this valued partnership continues for many years to come.
