2023 COMMUNITY AWARDS

On 18th October, the Redruth Charity Trust Community Awards presentation evening took place in the majestic Forum Room of the Penventon Park Hotel, where a bumper total of £7319 was distributed to 29 groups and clubs in the district.

The Community Awards is the third award programme to be presented during the Trust’s 30th anniversary year as a registered charity. In thirty years, Redruth Charity Trust has donated £475,000 through the three scheme, with over £128,000 going to the town’s community groups and clubs.

A first for Redruth Charity Trust, this year’s event was filmed and streamed live, to share the celebration with club members, family and friends who couldn’t attend. The professional AV production in the room and online was provided by Trustee Scott Watters with his colleagues Matt and Morgan of Cornwall Funeral Services. The video is available to watch here:

The presentations were compered by Trustee Alan Jewell. Trust Chairman, Chris Hailey, welcomed representatives from the applying community groups and presented their grant certificates. In response to some applications, the Trust was able to procure equipment at great prices through longstanding partner Cornish Granite Sports, maximising the benefit to the clubs and their members. Chris said:

“Redruth Charity Trust concluded its 30th Anniversary year with a memorable event at PV Hotels Forum Room, awarding over £7,400 to 30 deserving clubs. The celebration was sweetened further by a delicious cake generously donated by Sharon Jory.

Under the motto Making A Difference In Redruth, the Trust’s dedication to “Getting Back To Normal” saw the award count double to 30 this year, thanks to the support of 14 sponsors, highlighting their continued growth.

Over three decades, in collaboration with sponsors, the Trust has invested £475,000 into the Redruth and District community, underscoring their commitment.

With a strong team of trustees and sponsors, the Trust looks forward to 2024, prepared to meet the increasing needs of the community.

Chris Hailey, Chair of Trustees
