We complete 21 years as a fundraising charity and 33 years as a registered charity.
It has been a great three-year cycle of fundraising, with additional income coming in through the Crematorium, increased funeral donations, the Grumpy Old Men’s Brekkie and other small contributions. Our sponsors have remained loyal and fully supportive of our aims and values.
We have continued to work with the Town Council to provide additional support for the Christmas Lights and the St Piran’s Parade, with more initiatives in the pipeline. Strong links also remain with the Rotary and Lions Clubs.
Last year, a record 24 YSA clubs and 35 Community Clubs applied for Award funding, which we were pleased to deliver at events held at the Penventon Park Hotel and Pool Academy. We also delivered awards to all 10 schools through the FHEA.
We delivered 190 Christmas cards to our ever-growing band of sponsors, supporters and associate groups.
This last year has been another of good results and strong networking. The team has bonded even more closely. We even went cold water dipping with Paul Hancock and held a Christmas drinks gathering for team building – lots of positive moments throughout the year.
New trustees are bringing fresh energy and ideas, while the old guard are stepping forward with renewed vigour.
As I write, we are beginning the next phase in the Trust’s history, with two main areas of focus.
We are engaging with our MP, Perran Moon, the Deputy Sheriff of Cornwall and the Duchy of Cornwall as we explore the potential sale of our land at Drump for housing, allowing those funds to work more actively for the Trust.
We have also launched our Spirit of Redruth campaign, introducing new higher levels of donations and sponsorship, along with new additions to our fundraising team. Our aim is to raise £100,000 over the next three years.
If these two areas deliver the results we hope for, it will be a significant step forward for both the Trust and Redruth.
There are big challenges ahead, but we have simply the best team of 10 trustees we have ever had, and I am confident that together we can meet them.
I thank all my trustees for giving freely of their time and effort, with results that continue to be first class.
There is no “I” in team, and I value every trustee as a very proud Chairman.
